PIECES is an EU-funded project that aims to increase the reach and effectiveness of primary cancer prevention programmes in Europe and beyond.

This initiative aims to develop an innovative toolkit, known as the PCP Integrated Implementation Toolkit (PCP-IT), to guide users through the process of selecting, adapting and implementing primary cancer prevention programmes.

Social

The project is expected to reduce not only cancer-related morbidity and mortality, but also inequities in public health, such as the systematic differences between social groups regarding cancer risk and the likelihood of receiving an intervention for the primary prevention of cancer.

Scientific

Due to the methodology that will include a system for incremental and continuous optimization, PIECES will likely contribute to the development and consolidation of implementation science in cancer prevention and will provide a new tools that might be further applied in other clinical situations.

Economic

From an economic standpoint, by anticipating barriers and selecting the most suitable approaches to overcome them, PIECES will likely improve implementation efficiency of primary prevention of cancer programmes.

15 INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS

Formed by 15 partners, the PIECES consortium brings together a complementary range of know-how including public health, cancer epidemiology, technical expertise, implementation science theoretical background, and access to real life implementation settings.
