The second PIECES Annual Consortium Meeting was successfully held in Florence, Italy, on May 18–19. The two-day event brought together partners from 15 countries, offering a dynamic platform to review progress, exchange insights, and strengthen collaborative ties across the consortium.
Hosted by ISPRO, the meeting marked a significant milestone in the project’s timeline. Partners presented key updates from their respective work packages, reflected on achievements to date, and worked together to shape strategic plans for the upcoming phases of the project.
Discussions during the meeting focused on several important areas:
- Preliminary Results of the PIECES Study: The consortium examined initial findings from the PIECES Study, which assesses the effectiveness and feasibility of the Primary Cancer Prevention Implementation Toolkit (PCP-IT).
- Progress from Implementation Sites: Updates were shared from the nine implementation sites across Europe—located in countries including Spain, the Netherlands, Albania, the UK, Italy, Ukraine, Germany and Ireland.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Effective stakeholder involvement continues to be central to PIECES. The meeting emphasized the importance of early dissemination of findings to policy makers, healthcare professionals, and the general public, alongside planning for the long-term sustainability and scalability of the project’s outcomes.
The Florence meeting was also a valuable opportunity for in-person networking, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that underpins the PIECES project. Partners shared lessons learned, exchanged feedback, and identified synergies to optimize the impact of cancer prevention efforts.
