The first meeting of the Prevention and Early Detection Cluster took place on 23 September in Vienna, Austria. The meeting was an excellent opportunity for all six member projects to review their work towards a common goal: to increase societal and policy impact on cancer prevention and early detection.
The Cluster is a collaborative approach that aims to coordinate and integrate the efforts of six different cancer prevention projects. Together, they are working to increase societal and policy impact on cancer prevention and early detection. This initiative is part of the EU Mission on Cancer. Each project addresses a unique challenge in cancer prevention, from mental health to occupational health surveillance. They integrate primary prevention programmes into existing systems, highlighting their different methodologies and target populations. All ensure a holistic approach to achieving the objectives of the Cancer Mission and improving the quality of life of EU citizens.
During this meeting, preliminary results of the collaboration and future steps within each working group were presented and analysed. In addition, all projects had the opportunity to interact with Laura Ibáñez, Project Advisor at the European Commission, who provided comprehensive and clear answers to all questions raised by the projects. The same format of meetings will be maintained for the upcoming annual cluster meeting hosted by the PIECES project.
