PIECES reserachers Nikita Hensen, Rixt Smit, Jasmijn Breunese and Jassia Iqbal Jaffery attended the European Implementation Event 2025 (EIE2025), which took place from 4 to 6 June in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. This inspiring event brought together researchers, practitioners, policymakers and implementation support professionals from across Europe and beyond. Hosted by the European Implementation Collaborative, the event fostered cross-sectoral learning and collaboration to advance implementation science — PIECES’ main field of research.
Nikita and Rixt presented the PIECES project during a parallel session on tailoring implementation, discussing how realist evaluation can be used to explore the influence of context on the tailored implementation of primary cancer prevention programmes. Drawing on experiences from eleven different European contexts, they illustrated how the PCP-IT toolkit can facilitate a systematic and context-sensitive approach to implementation. This contribution offered important insights into advancing tailored implementation strategies for cancer prevention on a large scale.
