The PIECES Project successfully held its 3rd Annual Consortium Meeting, bringing partners together for two days of in-depth collaboration, strategic reflection, and forward planning as the project enters its final year.
Hosted by the University of Medicine, Tirana, the meeting took place at the Academy of Sciences of Albania (Akademia e Shkencave e Shqipërisë), providing a dynamic setting for discussions on progress and future directions.
A central theme of this year’s meeting was the long-term sustainability and impact of the project’s two flagship outputs:
- The PIECES Toolkit – a step-by-step digital solution designed to support users in implementing effective cancer prevention programmes.
- The PIECES Repository – a comprehensive, searchable database of evidence-based cancer prevention initiatives.
Consortium partners explored strategies to ensure both tools remain accessible, relevant, and impactful beyond the project’s lifecycle.
Significant attention was also dedicated to updates from the PIECES Study, which evaluates how the Toolkit performs across diverse European contexts. Partners from multiple countries shared early findings and practical experiences from local implementation efforts
Alongside these technical discussions, the meeting addressed key priorities for the final phase of the project. Partners reviewed plans for upcoming scientific publications, discussed progress across ongoing PhD research, and refined the dissemination strategy to maximise visibility, uptake, and long-term impact of the project’s outcomes.
The meeting once again demonstrated the strength of collaboration within the PIECES consortium. Participants contributed valuable perspectives, shared lessons learned, and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cancer prevention.
As the project moves forward into its final year, the consortium is focused on consolidating results and ensuring a lasting legacy. Partners now look ahead to reconvening in Brussels next year for the final PIECES event, which will mark the culmination of this collaborative effort.
